Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is a 2000 skateboarding game published by Activision. It was originally developed for PlayStation by Neversoft, and was ported to PC by Gray Matter Interactive. The PC port includes three unlockable levels from the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, which was never released on PC.
System requirements
Note: You must meet the recommendation for either CPU or GPU, preferably the latter.
Running the game on Windows 2000 and later
GameCopyWorld hosts an unofficial patch that you can use to run the game on modern operating systems. (Download the "Win2K patch"; if that doesn't work, try the "Fixed EXE".)
In addition, running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode may help.
Skipping intro logos/cutscene
If you performed a full install of the game, you can skip any or all of the intro FMVs. Go to the /Movies folder in your THPS2 install directory and rename the following files from ".dat" to ".dat.old":
- ATVILOGO.dat (Activision logo)
- GrayMat.dat (Gray Matter logo)
- NSLogo.dat (Neversoft logo)
- Intro.dat ("Guerrilla Radio" intro)
You can navigate the game's menus without using the mouse. Use the arrow keys or gamepad to select menu options, and press the Jump button to accept or the Grind button to go back. Any additional buttons that appear at the bottom of the screen (such as "Rotate" in the character selection screen) can be accessed using the Flip and Grab buttons.
Entering cheats without numeric keypad
Many cheat code websites state that you must enter cheats while holding Num7 while the game is paused. If you do not have a numeric keypad, you can instead use any key or gamepad button that is mapped to Fast Spin Left.
Save file location
Save files are stored in the install directory. On some versions of Windows you may need to click the "Compatibility Files" button in Windows Explorer.
Graphics and control settings are stored in TH2_OPT.CFG, along with install path information.
Career files have .SAV extensions. In addition to career mode data, each career file contains its own high score list and up to three custom skaters.
Custom parks have .PRK extensions.
