Key points
- Although not covered on this article, this game was also available for Apple II and Commodore 64; very old non-Microsoft PC platforms. If purchasing used be sure you acquire the correct version for the platform you are using/emulating.
- The DOS version only allows one save slot.

Version differences
- The original retail version is a DOS game and requires the manual to progress.
- The Interplay 10 Year Anthology version lacks the setup program for resetting the game to the default state while optionally keeping characters and their stats. The Unofficial Wasteland Reset Program provides this missing feature.
- Digital distribution versions use a custom build of DOSBox with new features such as showing description paragraphs in-game when prompted to read the manual.
Essential improvements
Utilities
You can find both a replacement reset program for the 10 Year Anthology version and Character editor for cheating here (along with a variety of other miscellaneous files such as uploaded saves).
Mods
You can find a variety of mods (mostly for improving the artwork/sprites) here. Note some links are broken.
Manual
As mentioned above, the game refers you to read the manual whenever evens in game occur, making it unplayable without one. If you lost your manual (it's an old game, it happens) you can find replacements here (Commodore version) and here (Apple II version). Note that despite being from different platforms they are still reverent for the DOS version (other than the installation/system requirements sections).
