OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is an open standard, cross-language, multi-platform application programming interface (API) for rendering graphics in both 2D and 3D. OpenGL extensions are decided upon by the ARB (OpenGL Architecture Review Board); voting members have included: Apple, SGI, Dell, NVIDIA, and IBM. Microsoft left in 2003.
