XCOM: Enemy Unknown

From PCGamingWiki, the wiki about fixing PC games
Revision as of 16:56, 3 March 2013 by Pharnaces (talk | contribs) (Removed mention of Second Wave in the mods section, as it has been integrated into the game via a patch. Since there are no other mods on this page I also removed the mod category.)

Not to be confused with X-Com: UFO Defense.

Key points

The game suffers from an abundance of bugs in its current state. Some bugs are game-breaking.[1]

Instructions

Save Game Slowdowns

Having a lot of savegames can cause the game to momentarily freeze while loading the "Save Game" screen (most noticeable due to music pausing for a second).

This HDD bottleneck problem can be solved by cleaning up the SaveData folder: %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games\XCOM - Enemy Unknown\XComGame\SaveData

Old unused saves should be either deleted or moved to another location.

Turn off multiplayer chat

Some users may be using an alternate VoIP program (Ventrilo, Mumble, TeamSpeak, etc.) to chat while playing multiplayer, and may wish to turn the in-game chat off. There is no in-game setting to do so, but by editing an INI file, you can turn off voice chat.
