I was browsing this thread and saw some people congratulating Timur Gagiev, a.k.a. XProger, for the release. Does this mean the remasters used OpenLara as a base or what?

Still doesn't confirm whether or not OpenLara was used as a base.
No, pretty sure this did not use OpenLara. It was based on the original Aspyr macOS ports. This is why, for example, the remasters are still locked to 30 fps.
