Borderlands Direct IP Connect

Hey,

Not sure if you are the right person to ask, but it says on the page that you have contributed some info there in regards to the games networking. The page states that you can connect to someone's IP directly using a game shortcut, could you provide more info on this?

I tried it myself but could not get it to work.

Hello Mrharam, yes, but you need to have a public Internet IP, and then add a space-IP after the game shortcut property → target to connect to the host

Hey. I spent the last few days doing some testing, and could not get this to work. Now, when I do -IP, nothing happens. When I do, just IP, like how the previous non enhanced versions work, I get a slightly different outcome. If my friend is in the game, I get a black screen. But if my friend is in the lobby, I get portions of the ground and the rest sky. This has been consistent when I have tested on LAN with my brother, and online with my friend. This only happens with IP, not with -IP. When I use -IP, the game just loads up as if I have not use any commands.

Have you got this to work yourself? If so, is it possible you could send me a recording of it yourself? From what I can tell, no one else has tested this online.

Hello Mrharam, thank you for your test. I also tested it. It is the same as your test. This method does not work. It is strange. I tried it when I was playing before and it was possible to connect.

Hello Mrharam, thanks for the test, I will try again tomorrow, I tried it before and it works, maybe the game is updated, or I remember wrongly.

Is it possible you may have confused it with the GOTY edition and not the enhanced edition? From what I can tell online, no one else has been able to connect directly with the enhanced version of the game. The only reason I tried this was because I was shocked to see someone claim it was possible. It is unfortunate it isn't.

Are you familiar with Goldberg emulator? From what I can tell, it's possible to get LAN working with that. And by extension, use tunneling software. I saw one user that claims he uses that to play with his son.

That's a mirror repo but yeah.

I appreciate you helping me out and testing the direct IP for me on your system by the way.

Thanks also to you and your friend, brother for testing
