The upcoming Saints Row 2 Updated Port should be on a separated page

The developers have confirmed that the updated SR2 is going to be released as a separate game (will be free for existing owners at Steam) and existing saves from the old version won't be compatible. (Source: https://steamcommunity.com/app/9480/discussions/0/1608274347718992744/?ctp=4#c2803982773086805444)

Lots of bugs and workarounds of the old 2009 version will be irrelevant as well. I don't think any timing related issues will be in the upcoming port.

Due to having a new appid and lots of content and internal differences, I think the new Saints Row 2 port should deserve a separate page in this wiki.

I've been making a stub page for the upcoming SR2 port in User:Nclok1405/SaintsRow2UpdatedStub. I'm planning to move it to the main namespace when the new SR2's appid is announced, but any opinions are welcome.

A new page is appropriate seeing how it will get a new entry in the library as well as have incompatible saves.

However I'm somewhat adverse to re-using a lot of the information from the old page. The "cleanest" way of ensuring that no incorrect data carries over is to start from scratch with a clean sample article on the new page (will most likely be called "Saints Row 2 (2020)" or something similar) and then fill it out as new information gets confirmed or known about the re-release. This was the way Borderlands: Game of the Year Enhanced, for exmaple, was handled.

I'm pretty sure the new re-release is getting a different name, I believe they said that in the Discord. We just don't know what the name will be yet.

The patch will never ever going to be released.

Yes, volition is closed permanently 8/31/2023, so the patch is dead and cancelled.

I already assumed the patch/rerelease is soft cancelled (Deep Silver never post a proof such as a screenshot) but now it is completely safe to assume this project is dead. Even if by some miracle Deep Silver or Embracer outsources the PC patch to an outside studio, it'll most likely be very different from what Mike "IdolNinja" Watson and Volition was working on.
