In video settings, next to widescreen resolution there is a note "Stretched. Only resolution available is 640x400.". 640 × 400 is a 16:10 resolution. I don't think that changing aspect ratio and therefore causing stretching is possible.

I have a 16:9 monitor and the game displays in 16:10.
