Known issues and Fixes

Due to the removal of hardware acceleration in the sequel the game will run on newer machines but at an unstable, low frame rate with lag. This can be fixed through a few simple steps. For video instructions of the below steps please watch this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQamKGzjsZg)

To enable hardware acceleration:

1. Download the Microsoft Compatibility Toolkit (Link here: http://tinyurl.com/3u6hkt6)

2. Install the Microsoft Compatibility Toolkit.

3. Open the toolkit and create a new custom database.

4. Click the fix button at the top and name the fix Icewind Dale II. Click the browse button and direct it to the executable for Icewind Dale II (should be program files/Black Isle/Icewind Dale II/IWD2.exe)

5. skip past the next compatibility fix screen.

6. Select the fix named "ForcedDirectDrawEmulation"

7. Click "next" and exit out of the fix menu.

8. Click the save button in the top left to save and name your database and fix. The location of the save isn't too important but it usually helps to put it in the Icewind Dale II folder.

9. Right click on your newly created database and click "install"

10. The next time you launch Icewind Dale II you should be able to play with no lag! Verify the success if needed through the use of a program such as FRAPS.
