Issues And Fixes

Failed To Find Steam

This can be fixed by running Steam as an administrator. Right click on the shortcut for Steam and click 'Run as administrator'.

Also switching Steam to offline mode and then back to online mode can fix this.

Installation Errors

Error 5003 on installation attempt.

Head in to Windows\Common Files and find the installshield directory. Rename it to something like 'Installshield_old' and then run your installation again.

CRC or cyclic redundancy error during installation

This error is often due to a faulty or damaged DVD. The damage may or may not be visible to the naked eye.

  • Solution 1 - Download discspeed and slow your DVD drive down before installing.
  • Solution 2 - Take your DVD to a video rental store and ask how much they charge for a laser resurface/clean.
  • Solution 3 - Copy the DVD contents to your hard drive and run setup.exe from there as per these instructions.
  • Solution 4 - Try buffing the cd yourself with brasso.

Please insert original cd

  • Solution 1: Right click 'My Computer' > Click 'Manage'
  • In the window you get, select 'Device Manager'
  • Expand 'Disk Drives' in the device manager tree
  • Right click your DVD drive > Click 'Uninstall' (Take any disk out first)
  • Reboot your computer and let Windows 'Find new hardware' and reinstall the DVD drive for you.
  • Solution 2: Find your DVD drive manufacturer, go to their site, and update your firmware. Note:

When doing this, follow instructions very carefully. Failing to do so may leave you with a non working drive.

Game not Booting

  • Check your specs. Does your graphics card support pixel shader 2.0? You can find out by going to any

retail site that sells your card and checking the specifications, or alternatively checking this list.

  • Error message stating youre mising the file d3x9_27.dll when trying to start the game. Download the

missing file from here and run the executable to install.

  • If youre erperiencing problems with SecuRom errors, try running the game in Windows 2000

Compatability mode. To do so; Right Click on the shortcut on your desktop, click properties, click on the Compatability tab, check the box "Run this program in Compatability mode for:" And select Windows 2000.

  • Install this update.
  • If you have 2 monitors connected, disable one and try again.

Crashes

  • CTD While running Xfire when loading a saved game, starting a mission from the mission screen, or

restarting a mission. Creds to 1r0nbunny here and MFive at XFire for the fix. 1. Make sure Xfire is not running. 2. In your Xfire root folder, open the xfire_games.ini file. 3. Ctrl+F to find 4821 - This is the entry for Hitman Blood Money. 4. Add this line at the bottom of that entry below InGameRenderer - InGameFlags=DISABLE_RELEASE 5. Save the ini file. 6. Run Xfire and Launch Hitman Blood Money. You should no longer crash while loading. We will add this fix in our next game update - Xfire.

  • CTD on opera house mission (Curtains Down). (Windows XP) - Turn your sound hardware acceleration down

(basic acceleration) or off (no acceleration). Down works for some, others need it off entirely. To do this, go to Start > Run > Type dxdiag > The 'Sound' tab, and take the hardware sound acceleration down to the bottom. Unfortunately this isn't possible if you have (Windows Vista). The only method that seems to work is disabling your sound temporarily for that mission.

CTD when dropping something on Watch Out mission

This is a hook for pirated copies.

  • 1) Buy the game if you haven't already. It's quite good.
  • 2) Make sure you're using the original exe, remove virtual drives/active emulation software.

Increased brightness when in first person mode

An issue which appeared in the most recent patch. There is no downloadable fix for this. Simply, the only way to fix it is:

  • 1. Go to the Settings.
  • 2. Make sure Post Processing is turned off.

The only graphical aspects affected, are the distant hills in the Vineyard level having some minor Depth of Field, and the death screen being red. Other than that, turning off post processing does not strongly affect the visual experience.

Graphical Tweaks

Widescreen Resolutions

HitmanBloodMoney.ini

  • Windows:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\hitman blood money\

Editing the line Resolution 1024x768 to whatever resolution desired (for example 1366x768) will enable widescreen resolution. Bear in mind that Steam will interpret this as a foreign change, and will overwrite the HitmanBloodMoney.ini file if one chooses to 'Verify local cache'.

Enabling SLI/Crossfire

  • 1. Go to the folder where you installed hitman, e.g. C:\Program Files\Eidos\Hitman Blood Money
  • 2. In that folder, find a file called "HitmanBloodMoney.ini" or just "HitmanBloodMoney".
  • 3. Open it with notepad or wordpad.
  • 4. Add the line "enablesli" (without the two "). Save the file and you're done!

Note: Crossfire users might get visual errors when applying this tweak. Note2: From patch 1.2 and higher, you can force SLi through the 'Configure Hitman Blood Money'-shortcut in start-allprograms-eidos-hitmanbloodmoney.
