Issues and Fixes

Game Crashes when Cars Explode

This problem usually occurs on Windows Vista and Windows 7 when running the game with x32 graphics. The simplest solution is to run it in x16 graphics however the game will look much worse. To properly fix it, run the game in an older compatibility mode. To do this, right-click the .exe, open Properties and set the game to run in Windows 2000 compatiblity mode from the Compatibility tab. If running the steam version you will need to set the compatibility mode to Windows 2000 or Steam will not launch the game properly. You will likely find the .exe in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto San Andreas

Mouse Fails to Work

This is an issue where the mouse becomes inactive in game if the game is running on a multi core processor. To fix this start the game and alt tab to the desktop when the game initially opens, start the task manager and select processes. Select gta-sa.exe right click and select set affinity then uncheck all boxes except CPU 0, this will run the game one one core but the mouse will be unaffected then go back to the open game. *NOTE-This process must be repeated every time the game is initiated.

Can't Dive Underwater

To fix this switch frame limiter to on in the games options menu, This will dramatically reduce frame rate however characters will now dive underwater so it's advised to select this option only when necessary.
