The SCUF Prestige is a game controller released by Scuf Gaming on May 23, 2019.

A made to order, custom version of Microsoft's Xbox Wireless Controller (Specifically, Model 1708), the Prestige keep most of the internals of the standard Xbox Wireless Controller intact, but replaced the outer shell and joystick cap with the custom-made ones. It also has four remappable back buttons, which can be remapped using the included EMR tool and were sit on top of the user-removeable paddle plates. The travel distance and tension on the triggers can be adjusted using the 2-step trigger stops and the included Allen key respectively. Unlike the standard Model 1708, it has a integrated rechargeable battery.

Due to being a customized version of the standard Xbox Wireless Controller, the Prestige is a native XInput controller, meaning that it is supported in games that use the XInput API. Select games can support the controllers' Impulse Triggers feature. It can be connected wired via Micro-USB or wireless via either Bluetooth or an optional dongle. Third party attachments can provide gyroscope support. Playing games that only use DirectInput API require the use of wrappers that transcode the XInput inputs into DirectInput inputs.

Avalability

Use with PC platforms

Being a custom version of the Xbox Wireless Controller, many third-party wrappers that support Xbox Wireless Controller also support the SCUF Prestige as it was treated as a Xbox Wireless Controller by all OS. See Xbox Wireless Controller for more details.

Steam

Being a custom version of the Xbox Wireless Controller, Steam can natively support the SCUF Prestige.
Steam Input can support the impulse trigger using the Windows.Gaming.Input when the Xbox Extended Feature Support driver is installed through Steam.

Steam Link compatibility

Works without any drivers on any operating system that supports Steam.
Can be used just to send input from a controller to a PC. Go into Streaming options, hit 𝗬 and disable video and audio streaming.
Controller connected via USB works as expected.
Can be paired natively using Bluetooth.
The controller supports Rumble over Bluetooth after update.
May not work great unless the streaming device is connected to LAN or a low latency Wi-Fi.

Controller profile and remapping

Remapping is done with just the controller without the need of additional software.
The optional EMR tool is required.
Because the remappable buttons were added in the way that they intercept from and emulate inputs to the controller's internals, third-party wrappers cannot remap the remappable buttons.

Remapping the buttons

Remapping the buttons
  1. Place the EMR tool on the back of the controller, in which the tool will attach to magnetically to enable the mapping mode.
  2. Hold down one of the remappable back buttons.
  3. Press and hold down any of the face buttons (or the stick buttons) for about 5 second to bind them to the remappable button.
  4. Release the remappable back button and the selected face button.
  5. To exit the remapping mode, remove the EMR tool from the controller.

Hardware

Being a custom version of the Xbox Wireless Controller, many third-party add-ons designed for Model 1708 can be used. See Xbox Wireless Controller for more details.

Support in games

Due to being a custom version of the Xbox Wireless Controller, it is supported by games that use the XInput API. See Xbox Wireless Controller for more details.

Other information

Technical information

The SCUF Prestige, being made using an Xbox Wireless Controller (Model 1708), shares the same device name and hardware ID as the latter (See Xbox Wireless Controller for more details.)

Firmware update

Because it was made from the Xbox Wireless Controller (Model 1708), it retains the same firmware. Its firmware can be updated from Windows devices using the Xbox Accessories App from Microsoft Store. Updating the firmware requires a wired connection.
