Introduction
Starsiege: Tribes is a first-person shooter released in 1998 for the PC. It is the first game part of the Tribes franchise, which consists of Starsiege: Tribes (1998), Tribes 2 (2001), Tribes: Vengeance (2004), and Tribes: Ascend (2012). A console version of Tribes 2 was released in 2002 titled Tribes: Aerial Assault for the PlayStation 2.
Getting the game
Starsiege: Tribes was released as freeware in 2004. You can download the game from a variety of places.
Known Issues
Starsiege: Tribes can't connect to the master server. This is likely due to your client attempting to contact the original Starsiege: Tribes master server, which was taken down in 2007. While it is possible to change the master server and fix the issue, it is recommended that you simply upgrade your client to either version 1.30 or 1.40.655. If you would prefer to manually change the master server, simply copy the following code to your clipboard:
$Server::MasterAddressN0 = "t1m1.masters.tribesmasterserver.com:28000 t1m1.pu.net:28000 t1m1.tribes0.com:28000 skbmaster.ath.cx:28000 kigen.ath.cx:28000 t1m1.masters.dynamix.com:28000";
Start up the game and press ~, which opens the console. Press Ctrl+V, press Enter, then restart the client.
Users attempting to play the game on Windows Vista or Windows 7 are unable to use/see their mouse cursor. This issue is resolved by either downloading the Windows Vista fix, or downloading Starsiege: Tribes version 1.40.655.
Starsiege: Tribes version 1.40.655 features a variety of bugs, such as random client freezes, video lag for ATI users, server list not working, Mission .dsc syntax errors, and HUD position issues. The majority of these issues are resolved by downloading Service Pack 1.
