Windows
Version Differences
Gotham City Impostors uses Games For Windows Live (GFWL). GFWL is used for matchmaking and is required at all times. You can purchase and run the game through Steam, but it is not necessary to have Steam running in order to play.
Serial Key
A serial key needs to be entered into Games For Windows Live (GFWL) no matter which store the game is bought from. This is also true for DLC.
Issues And Fixes
Windows 8 Consumer Preview
The start-up issue is caused by the Bink Video Encoder used on all the videos. Removing the videos from the game folder solves the problem for some people.
Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\gotham city impostors\Game and rename or delete the interface directory.

This is reportedly fixed in a patch.[1]

- Go to the "Start" menu, select "Run", type "regedit" and click "OK".
- Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE
- Right click and select "Permissions"
- Check the "Allow" boxes for "Admin" and "System" for both "Full control" and "Read".
