Revision as of 15:52, 30 June 2012

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is reported to be a poor PC port with many bugs and issues that have not been fixed.[1] For example, if one wants to access the settings whilst in-game, one must quit to the main menu.[2] Furthermore, there are many problems with the game remembering remapped keys.[3]

The Steam version of the game is not patched simultaneously with other PC versions of the game, and therefore will be slightly older than official patches. This is because the official patch cannot be directly applied to the Steam version.[4]

Video Settings

Video settings can be edited in the file located:[5]

C:\Documents and Settings\Username%\My Documents\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier\default.cfg

Patch 1.2 720p Lock

Appears that upgrading to version 1.2 will also lock the resolution to 720p.[6]

Nvidia SLI Performance Increase

User r3mx_D has devised a performance increase setting for those using Nvidia cards in SLI mode to make full use of the second card in SLI. Without this setting, the second card is only utilised 0-1%.[7]

Using Nvidia Control Panel, one needs to apply settings to these exe files:

future soldier.exe and launcher.exe

And apply the setting:

Force alternate frame rendering 2

Controller Support

Invert Y-Axis On Controller

The invert y-axis options do not work for any attached controllers.[8]

This can be fixed by using the utility Durazno which is an XInput wrapper that can be customised to invert the y-axis.

Issues And Fixes

Mouse Won't Work

Whilst the keyboard and mouse may be selectable within the game menu, but does not work in the game. Uninstalling the drivers for any installed gamepads fixes for some people.[9]

Game does not full screen correctly

Go to "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier" , then open "default.cfg" and change the resolution, save and then force read me

Mouse not clipping to the game window

Go to "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier" , then open "default.cfg" change the fullscreen from True to False. and then force read me.

Unresolved Issues

Black Bars

Some resolutions and aspect ratio (in particular 16:10) are displaying black bars.[10]

Steam Multiplayer

Anytime you connect to a host with a different patch, you will be booted within 10-15 seconds of connecting. This is because the Steam version of the game is different to other multiplayer hosts or clients.[11]
