Issues And Fixes
Technical Difficulties Error
The 'Technical Difficulties' error message appears when running on modern operating systems such as Windows 7.
Option 1 - Full Reinstallation
A full reinstallation appears to be the solution that works for most people.[1]
- Uninstall Zero Hour
- Uninstall Generals
- Reboot
- Install Generals
- Patch Generals
- Install Zero Hour
- Patch Zero Hour
- Run a registry cleaner such as CCleaner.
Option 2 - Run As Administrator
Right-click on generals.exe
and run as Service Pack 2 compatibility, run as administrator and reboot.
Option 3 - Edit Options.ini
This solution involves editing the Options.ini

- Copy all to new text file in notepad save as Options.txt and change .txt to .ini.
- This is default setup.ini for C&C Generals, so you can adjust your own settings later in options menu.
- Or edit it directly in ini file.
If you own ATI card set AntiAliasing = 6 (maximum) If you own NVIDIA card set AntiAliasing = 4 (maximum)
