Topic on Talk:GRID Autosport

Line 1: Line 1:
I figured out from looking on SteamDB that the files for the [https://steamdb.info/depot/295100/ High Res Texture Pack] and [https://steamdb.info/depot/324130/ Demoman Derby Pack] are included with the base macOS and Linux ports as provided by Feral Interactive, whereas with Windows the files are only available in separate DLC depots. If you own Grid Autosport on Steam, then you own the game for Windows, macOS, and Linux. I dual-boot Windows and Linux, so I installed Grid Autosport on Linux. Sure enough, the 626 high-resolution car model PSSG files and the Demoman Derby NeFS archive (valve.nefs) were present, however, I couldn't access the content in-game since I hadn't registered the two free DLCs through the Steam store due to Codemasters delisting them mid-sale.

What finally did the job for me is [https://github.com/acidicoala/Koalageddon Koalageddon] (the Grid Autosport DLC files need to be present). Use [https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader DepotDownloader] to obtain the files for the two free DLCs (instructions in my next [https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/w/index.php?title=Topic:Wtsonuornfxvuaxw&topic_showPostId=xdqotkrs6em1t3ie#flow-post-xdqotkrs6em1t3ie comment]). There are also a couple of third-party GUI versions[https://github.com/mmvanheusden/SteamDepotDownloaderGUI 1] [https://github.com/Jack-Myth/SteamDepotDownloader-GUI 2] of DepotDownloader, but I haven't tried them. I am a little concerned that Koalageddon might trigger Valve Anti-Cheat, so I haven't tried Grid Autosport multiplayer while using Koalageddon (and I don't know if Codemasters has VACless multiplayer servers available), and even when I use Koalageddon for singleplayer, I add [https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_Line_Options#Command-Line_Parameters -insecure] to my launch options for Grid Autosport in order to disable VAC. There are similar tools to Koalageddon, like CreamInstaller and GreenLuma, but I haven't tried those.

Adding the files isn't sufficient to access the free DLC in-game however, since the DLCs weren't unlocked through Steam. That being said, there is a way to unlock them locally (this will not add them to your Steam account unfortunately). You need something like [https://github.com/acidicoala/Koalageddon Koalageddon] (plus the Grid Autosport DLC files). Use [https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader DepotDownloader] to obtain the files for the two free DLCs (instructions in my next [https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/w/index.php?title=Topic:Wtsonuornfxvuaxw&topic_showPostId=xdqotkrs6em1t3ie#flow-post-xdqotkrs6em1t3ie comment]). I can't guarantee that Koalageddon won't trigger Valve Anti-Cheat, so I would add [https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_Line_Options#Command-Line_Parameters -insecure] to your launch options for Grid Autosport in order to disable VAC. I don't know if Codemasters has VACless multiplayer servers available, so disabling VAC maybe prohibit you from multiplayer. There are similar tools to Koalageddon, like CreamInstaller and GreenLuma, but I haven't tried those.

If someone has all the Grid Autosport DLC registered on Steam and is willing to assist, I would like to test something. Do your GRIDAutosport.exe, GRIDAutosport_avx.exe, and steam_api.dll files differ if you deselect the free High Res Texture Pack and Demoman Derby Pack in Steam before installing the game versus a full installation (i.e., with all DLC selected in Steam)? I would like to compare the game files to see what differences are present. You can use a comparison tool like WinMerge, Meld, or WinDiff to compare these.
