Playstation controllers & SteamAPI

5
Zhnigo (talkcontribs)

1. The game doesn't support playstation controllers at all with steaminput disabled

2. With steaminput enabled, there's no playstation buttons in the UI and no haptic feedback, though after 1.04 there's regular rumble

3. With steaminput enabled, on a dualsense controller there's ONE instance of adaptive trigger feedback in the entire game, and that is charging the ether cannon with L2. I suppose this means that SteamAPI is used after all, as there would be no adaptive trigger feedback at all otherwise?

With all this in mind, what should be written in SteamAPI and Playstation Controllers fields in the page?

In that case, the Playstation Controller should be set to 'limited', and adding notes that it need the Steam Input enabled. Also set the DualSense Adaptive Trigger support field to true (if works wirelessly) or limited (if only works wired), and add the note about the Steam Input API requirement.

The game uses basic XInput emulation with SteamInput, without it PlayStation controllers do not work at all. If PlayStation controllers require any type of wrapper, including SteamInput, to work it means there is no native support and the row should be set to "false". The only reason it's set to "hackable" at the moment is to make the other PS controllers-related rows visible.
Anyway, i'm pretty sure adaptive triggers via SteamInput is not possible.

with wired connections and steaminput enabled, the game support both adaptive trigger and haptic feedback, in ver.1.0.5. I have experienced it these days. I don't know if it is same as PS5, but it is support both. With other environment, for example, with steaminput disabled, I don't sure if is supported. And adaptive trigger is also supported when shoot by ether cannon whit R2, not only L2.

Just checked on 1.1.1, it's exactly the same. No haptics, basic vibration, only instance of adaptive triggers is L2 on the cannon. I'm using DS Edge, wired.
