Sega 3D Control Pad on Wikipedia

The Sega 3D Control Pad, also known as Sega Multi Controller in Japan, is a game controller released by Sega on July 5, 1996.

Unique to the 3D Control Pad is that, in addition to the d-pads and the buttons that were available on the standard Saturn Control Pad, is that it has an analog joystick on the left and a mode toggle switch on the middle of its bulkier controller body design. It will emulate as a Saturn Control Pad when switching to digital mode. There were going to be expansions for the 3D Control Pad, but they were all scrapped.

It has a proprietary controller port, thus requiring a third-party adapter to be able to connect to the PC.

Windows

XInput wrapping

Being a DirectInput controller, it's possible to use any of the generic wrappers. See the controller article for those.

Hardware

Adapters

Mayflash SEGA Saturn Adapter

Direct Input (standard HID protocol) supports 2 controllers at the same time. Xinput (Xbox 360 protocol) supports one controller per individual adapter.
Directly compatible with PC. No driver needed, just plug and play.
Compatible with PS3 console.

Bliss-Box Gamer-Pro

Directly compatible with PC. No driver needed, just plug and play.
A wide variety of controllers are fully supported right out of the box. See the Compatibility List.
Global Button Mapping - starting with 3.0 this layout has changed for modern gaming. The internal button mapping is set up so that buttons on different controllers match each other's layouts as closely as possible.
Adapter can update firmware and be used on PC, PS3 (up to 4 players), Xbox (single player only) or Switch (up to 4 players). Each controller port has its own firmware chip so multiple firmware versions can be used if desired. See more.
Allows to use special API to communicate with applications (eg. RetroArch). See API tool documentation.
A 12v power supply is completely optional and simply allows the HUB to be self-powered and supplies additional power for a stronger Playstation Force Feedabck effect only.
Adapter work on Windows, OSX, Linux, Raspberry Pi, most all Android device.
Allow hot swapping the controller while the adapter is connected, and has auto pause function which pause the game when it detect that the controller is unplugged.
Single-Player Mode, the adapter can be switched to Single-Player Mode. This will allow for some advance features like using the adapter on an Xbox with special firmware, or up-linking to other future Bliss-Box add-on accessories.
Native Support, adapter have the ability to allow communication from the emulated game directly to the controller and back with any of the supported controllers.
Do not natively support Xinput. It can do so however, with the use of 3rd party software (ie. x360ce or XOutput).
Hotkey: Pressing and holding sᴛᴀʀᴛ will trigger a Hotkey combo. User may configure this combo for a hot key in front-ends like RetroArch.

Steam

The controller is recognized as a generic DirectInput device by Steam, thus requiring manual button mappings via Steam Input.

Steam Link compatibility

Works natively over Mayflash Saturn Controller Adapter.[1]
Joystick configuration is possible on Steam Link, but the button mapping menu is finicky, so it may require several tries.
Only one Gamepad works. May not work with some third-party controllers.
Works without any drivers on any operating system that supports Steam.
Can be used just to send input from a controller to a PC. Go into Streaming options, hit Y and disable video and audio streaming.
Won't work great unless the streaming device is connected to LAN or a low latency Wi-Fi.

Support in games

Support for some controller features may be only available on certain systems. Refer to game-specific articles for details.

Games with Xinput button prompts

List of games with Xbox button prompts (Although face button letter positions are the same for A/B/X/Y, games that require a right stick could cause gameplay problems. Games rarely account for the C/Z buttons.)
