The Flydigi Apex 3 is a game controller released by Flydigi on August 24, 2022.
A successor to the Flydigi Apex 2, the Apex retained many of the same features as its predecessor, including 4 remappable back buttons, 4 built-in controller profiles, mechanical face buttons and motion-sensing control (albeit under specific controller mode). The Apex 3 return to the 4 right face buttons like the the first Apex. It have a small, interactive LCD screen on the center for making profile switching and changing controller modes. Also new to the Apex 3 is the resistance-based force feedback triggers, which work similar to that of the adaptive triggers on the DualSense. The faceplate of the controller is attached to it by magnets and can be removed, and the pressure-fit thumbstick caps can be removed.
In addition to the standard model, the Apex 3 also come in the limited Aerospace Edition, which comes with a special color design, two additional thumbstick caps and a carrying case.
The Apex 3 acts as a native XInput controller and supported by games that use the XInput API while being set to XInput mode, while it also acts as a DirectInput controller when set to DInput mode. It also has three additional modes that are only available under Bluetooth: the Android mode, the Switch mode (in which it emulate as a Switch Pro Controller), and the iOS mode. The Flydigi Space Station software expose additional features that are otherwise limited to specific controller modes, such as gyroscope and resistance-based triggers, as well as emulating as a DualSense in DS Mode for specific games so the trigger behave similar to that of Sony's controllers on PC.

Connection
USB Type-C
Connect the controller |
---|
Note
|
Bluetooth
- While the controller has Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 dongles will work.
Pair the controller |

|
Windows
- Connecting the controller should automatically download and install latest drivers for the controller regardless of the controller modes.
Flydigi Space Station
- A software that allows to customize the controller's built-in profiles, while provide additional feature support.
- Can be used to replace the default image/animations on the center LCD screen and the secondary LCD screen on the left grip.
- It can modify the game files to add resistance-based triggers support that behave similar to the adaptive triggers of the DualSense. Since v3.2.1.1, it is listed as Standard Mode.
- The v3.2.1.1 update added the DS Mode, in which the controller emulate as a DualSense and achieve the same functionality as Standard Mode without modifying the game files.
- Because Standard Mode involve modifying the game files, it will trigger the game's anti-cheat software and can sometimes lead to account ban.
- Supported game selection is small and is subject to the app's update. In addition, only Steam version of the games were listed.
Support in games
- Under XInput Mode, it is natively supported by most modern games via XInput. Sometimes, the controller will be recognized as Xbox 360 Controller.
- Under either DirectInput Mode, Switch Mode or Android Mode, games with generic DirectInput support are supported by the controller, however button placements may be out of place and need to be rebound. Refer to game-specific articles for rebinding support.
Games with motion control support
For a list of games, see List of games that support tracked motion controllers in non-VR gameplay.
- Out of the box, motion control is only available which set to Switch Mode. Flydigi Space Station can expose motion control feature regardless of the controller mode, but requires the app to be open.
- Number of games which natively support motion controls is limited and gyro support is still not a PC standard.
Games with force feedback triggers support
- The force feedback trigger work similar to that of the adaptive triggers on the DualSense, but instead of worm gears, it use spur gears.[1]
- There is no available application which translates Impulse Trigger Vibration or Adaptive Triggers signals into force feedback Triggers. However, v3.2.1.1 of the Flydigi Space Station app added the DS Mode to emulate as a DualSense without modifying the game files.
- Since the Standard Mode involve modifying the game files, it will trigger the game's anti-cheat software and can sometimes lead to account ban.
Games with adaptive trigger support
- Only when the controller is emulate as a DualSense under DS Mode within the Flydigi Space Station app v3.2.1.1 and later. See DualSense for more details.
