Yuzu at Wikipedia

Yuzu is a discontinued open-source video game console emulator developed and released by Team Yuzu. It emulates the Nintendo Switch.

Development of Yuzu was first announced on January 15, 2018.[1] Unlike most open-sourced emulators, updates were first released as timed-exclusives (Named Early Access) to Patreon donors for about a week before they were released to the public.[2]

Due to a lawsuit from and the subsequent settlement with Nintendo in March 2024, Yuzu's development team, Tropic Haze, announced that they will stop further development of Yuzu and removed any hosted copies of Yuzu, which also includes Yuzu's Github page (effectively removing Yuzu's codebase). However, there is an unofficial build that provided Early Access releases of Yuzu prior to the closure that is still up.

Essential improvements

Switch Mods

Installing mods[3]
  1. Download mods for the desired game.
  2. Right click on the game in yuzu and open Mod Data Location (alternatively %YUZU_DIR%/load/<title_id>).
  3. Extract each mod in its own directory within the Mod Data Location.

Game data

By default Yuzu uses %APPDATA% for config and save data. The config and save data locations below referring to "path-to-game" are the directories for a portable install, this can be achieved by creating a "user" folder.

Configuration file(s) location

System Location
Windows %APPDATA%\yuzu\config\
<path-to-game>\yuzu-windows-msvc\user\config\[Note 1]
