Essential improvements

Improved configuration file

Improves graphical and audio fidelity, unlocks DLC characters and many other things.[citation needed]
Use replacement Coalesced.ini[3]
  1. Go to the configuration file location.
  2. Replace the original Coalesced.ini with the one from this archive.
In Escalation mode, unlocked characters will not work on those that host without the modified file.

Skip intro videos

Delete/rename video files[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\TransGame\Movies\
  2. Delete or rename these files:

Field of view (FOV)

Use FOV & FPS Tool[citation needed]

Use TWFC FOV & FPS Tool.

May not work with the Steam version.
Use Flawless Widescreen[citation needed]

Use Flawless Widescreen.

Affects scope zoom (larger FOV = less zoom)

Borderless fullscreen windowed

Use external programs[citation needed]
  1. Install GeDoSaTo.
  2. Edit the TWFC profile.
  3. Add this setting: forceBorderlessFullscreen 1
  4. Start the game, toggle fullscreen mode on and then off.
  5. Use Borderless Gaming to remove the window borders.

Anisotropic filtering (AF)

Change AF[citation needed]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Coalesced.ini.
  3. Change MaxAnisotropy=4 to MaxAnisotropy=16.

Anti-aliasing (AA)

Nvidia Inspector[5]

Sampling-based AA can be forced through Nvidia Inspector with 0x00000245 AA compatibility flag; 0x000102C1 for SGSSAA.

Change MaxMultiSamples[citation needed]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open Coalesced.ini.
  3. Change MaxMultisamples to the desired value.

High frame rate

The game is capped at 30 FPS by default.
Use FOV & FPS Tool[citation needed]

Use TWFC FOV & FPS Tool.

May not work with the Steam version.
Use FPS unlocker[6]
  1. Download FPS Cap Unlocker and run it alongside the game.
  2. Press Num 0 to toggle between locked and unlocked FPS.

As of now, this fix will not work on 64-bit devices running Windows 10
If you intend to play the game online, log into your War for Cybertron account before you activate the toggle at the main menu.
Because of the game's dependence on the frame rate being 30 FPS for light blink timing and other mechanics, your vehicle hover mode's look sensitivity and any situations using this configuration like the Omega Missile Killstreak and spectator camera, will be significantly lower than the standard one. A way to reduce this effect is to cap the frame rate to a lower value (e.g. 60 FPS). Also, having a higher fps than 30 the LOD Biases will be messed up resulting in blobby un-rendered textures. If you see a lot of unloaded textures toggle the FPS unlocker off and wait for the textures to load, which should only take a second, then toggle back on.

Since the multiplayer servers are down, the debug camera and other features can't be (ab)used for cheating. They still function just fine for single-player.

Issues fixed

Game not launching (without an error or a message)

There are three main ways to fix this issue, which is a symptom of three different unrelated problems.

OS compatibility[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Transformers War for Cybertron\Binaries
  2. Set compatibility mode of TWFC.exe to Windows XP.
Incomplete PhysX installation[citation needed]
  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common and copy all files within that folder.
  2. Paste them into Binaries in the installation folder.
  3. Now the game should run.
Fix configuration file[citation needed]
  1. Make copies of the lines of config you changed so you can incorporate them back into your new Coalesced.ini that Steam will replace
  2. Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache in Steam on the game's Properties > Local Files Tab
  3. Steam will download a fresh vanilla Coalesced.ini.
  4. Now the game should run.

Offline Escalation

With 2 level switches, Escalation can be played offline in both maps and with all characters.
Due to being offline, leaderboard data won't be saved, and account data won't be used.
    Level switch
  1. Decode the Coalesced.ini with the WFC/FOC encoder from PCGamingWiki.
  2. Place these lines of text anywhere in the Bindings section of the Coalesced.
    Bindings=(Name="F1",Command="SwitchLevel MP_ESC_BrokenHope_BASE_m")
    Bindings=(Name="F2",Command="SwitchLevel MP_ESC_Remnant_BASE_m")
  3. Encode the Coalesced and place it in <path-to-game>\TransGame\Config\PC\Cooked.
  4. Boot up the game and go into any chapter (for Broken Hope and Remnant, go into any Decepticon or Autobot chapter to chose your character).
  5. Press F1 to go to Broken Hope, and F2 to go to Remnant.

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/42650/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (42650) may differ in some cases.
