Laserlock copy protection belongs also to Diskcheck but is a floppy disk not a CD/DVD

When Laserlock copy protection is used, the original floppy disk contains a small hole which was burned with a laser into the floppy disk. This hole shouldn't be midex up with the index hole. The game tries to write and read back data on that original disk at that location of the hole and if that does not work, then the game knows, that the floppy disk is original. Reason: You can't write data on something, the hole, that can't store information. If writing and reading the data back works, then this means, the floppy doesn't have a physical hole at that position and the game knows, that it is not the original floppy. I had this kind of copy protection at my Sid Maiers Pirates! PC booter version. The floppy was in 5.25" disk format. The physical hole on the floppy medium could be seen, if you turned the disk a little at the right position. The floppy disk had to be in writable mode, which means, it was not allowed to have a tape at that small notch on the side.
