Not sure what the controller configuration is like with other versions but the Steam version relies on the Steam Controller API and seems to use the Steam Controller by default. This causes problems with Xbox One controllers where some critical functions do not have button mappings displayed in-game (missing icons for moves and tutorial messages), and the ability to Summon Ruin is completely missing.
There are community configurations which restore the proper control functionalities and should be used as the game has a hard stop without the ability to summon Ruin by default.
