Issues fixed

Game launches as a background process

This is an issue involving the deprecated DirectDraw API.
This typically only occurs when your GPU has 4GB or more of video memory.
cnc-ddraw[1]
  1. Download the latest release of cnc-ddraw.zip.
  2. Drag and drop ddraw.dll to the Toontown Online installation folder.

OR

DXGL[2]
  1. Download and install DXGL.
  2. Add the game's executable Toontown.exe to the application list.

You will need to close the Toontown.exe background process via Task Manager before attempting to restart the game. This is because only one instance of the Toontown Online launcher can run at a time, and the launcher hides as a background process after a successful login.

Game stops responding at initial "Connecting..." screen

This typically only occurs when using Windows 10 or above.
Disable "hash_data"[3]
  1. Close the game AND launcher if you haven't already.
  2. Go to the Toontown Online installation folder.
  3. Open hash_data in a text editor, then clear and save it.
  4. Right-click hash_data, go to properties, and set it to read-only.
