CLR20r3 Error[edit]

Download the config files[3]
  1. Download the config files and extract them.
  2. Place them in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\The Vanishing of Ethan Carter\.


Do not click Restore to Defaults in the game's launcher as it may remove configuration files.

Nothing happens after clicking Play / 0xc000007b error[edit]

Reinstall d3dx9_43.dll[4]
  1. Remove d3dx9_43.dll from both %WINDIR%\System32 and %WINDIR%\SysWOW64.
  2. Download DirectX End-User Runtime and install it.


Make sure to disable installing of Bing bar in one.
Use older Visual C++ runtime libraries[3]
  1. Download older Visual C++ runtime libraries and extract them.
  2. Place all of the extracted DLLs in <path-to-game>\Binaries\Win64.

Black screen when using Steam In-Home Streaming[edit]
