Issues fixed[edit]

Music is not present[edit]

In order for the game to play music, the Windows Media Source Filter must be re-installed on newer versions of Windows
Completely restores and fixes issues with the playback of music
Install the Windows Media Source Filter & DivX codec[3]
  1. Download the Windows Media Source Filter Installer v1.7
  2. Extract the contents from the .zip file into a folder.
  3. Copy drmclien.dll into the game's installation folder.
  4. Right-click the ApplyPatch.bat and run it as administrator.
  5. Download the DivX 3.11 audio codec
  6. Extract the contents from the .zip file into a folder.
  7. Right-click the DivX_Register.exe and run it as Administrator.
  8. Launch the game

Notes

If the text in the console window is red, then you need to run the ApplyPatch.bat as Administrator
Your anti-virus might stop the file from executing, you may have to click "More info" and then "Run anyway"
Alternative install of the Windows Media Source Filter & DivX codec[4]
  1. Download the Windows Media Source Filter Installer v1.7
  2. Extract the contents from the .zip file into a folder.
  3. Copy drmclien.dll into the game's installation folder.
  4. Make a new directory in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ called Windows-Media-Source-Filter
  5. Copy drmclien.dll, strmdll.dll and dxmasf.dll from the .zip file to the Windows-Media-Source-Filter folder
  6. Run DSFMgr.exe as administrator and register the dxmasf.dll in the Windows-Media-Source-Filter folder.
  7. Download the DivX 3.11 audio codec
  8. Extract the contents from the .zip file into a folder.
  9. Run DivX_Register.exe as Administrator.
  10. Launch the game

Notes

This modification does not affect Windows Media Player file playback adversely

Low frame-rate and graphical glitches[edit]

DirectDraw emulation is broken in Windows 8/10.
Stablizes gameplay along with fixing graphical glitches.
Use a DirectDraw wrapper[5]
  1. Download the DirectDrawCompat wrapper.
  2. Extract the contents from the .zip file into the game's installation folder.
  3. Launch the game.
Use a DirectX wrapper[citation needed]
  1. Download the latest version of dgVoodoo 2 and extract the archive.
  2. Open the MS\x86 folder and copy D3D8.dll, D3DImm.dll and DDraw.dll files.
  3. Paste the files into the game installation folder <path-to-game> where the game executable is.
  4. Run dgVoodooCpl.exe. Click the [.\] button below the banner.
  5. Under the DirectX tab, choose a Video card. Change the resolution to anything desired.
  6. Tick "Fast Video Memory Access".
  7. Untick "dgVoodoo Watermark"
  8. Click Apply.
  9. Run the game.

Notes

For systems that only meet the minimum system requirements, using a DirectX wrapper is not recommended.
