PCGW generally only concerns itself with covering official developers and official ports within the infobox template as well as the availability row. This is, in part, to not contaminate the metadata tracked by PCGW (which is used elsewhere) with incorrect information.

SDLPal does not seem to be an officially recognized publisher or developer of the game. From the looks of things, they're basically third-party developers creating a "source port" for the game.

I know this is an old post, but as of the 2021 Steam re-release. SDLPAL is now used officially by the developers.

The Steam release contains files for both the DOS and Windows 95/98 versions of the game and allows you to play either in DOSBOX and SDLPAL respectively. Moreover, there is also an option to play the DOS version VIA SDLPAL instead of DOSBOX. (DOS and Windows version has some minor differences). There is also mod support via the Steam Workshop.

All of this is configured via a Launcher, which is in Chinese but funnily enough, there is a 'hidden' option to switch the language to English: The Launcher's text is stored in .txt files in the game directory labeled "schinese.txt", "tchinese.txt" and "english.txt". By swapping out schinese with english you can get a (badly) translated English launcher.

I've added the basic info of Steam but some help from others to maintain clean edits would be appreciated.

Extra info:

-800x600 and 1024x768 are official windowed resolutions. Custom resolution option only allows you to change width for some reason. (4:3 aspect ratio forced by default, which is interesting as the game is 640x400 internally and unsure what is the 'correct' aspect ratio to play)

-Borderless Fullscreen by default.

-Not sure about the framerate, it's all over the place ranging from 10FPS to 31FPS. Yet the game feels consistent in speed. ~15fps if I had to eyeball it.

-Steam has new system requirements for it.

-This version is compatible with the fanmade English translation patch.

-Music is MIDI in DOS and in RIX format(OPL) in SDLPAL mode. But also supports other formats via (Steam Workshop) mods.

I'll make these edits eventually but help in cleaning them up rough edits and additional info from testing added in would be appreciated. This game deserves more love. Thank you.

The english text is slightly bugged due to using an older version of SDLPAL but can be fixed by adding the following line to sdlpal.cfg: MessageFileName=m_eng.slf

(Or just copy over all the files from the translation patch, do note it uses an older build of sdlpal. Will add detailed isntructions when I'm free in a few days)

One more discovery: The Steam release contains CD Music (only a handful of tracks are used) for both DOS and Windows(SDLPAL)

the official freeware version does not.

Steam version not listed as store?
