Would it be okay to add a link to Deluxe Edition unlocker?

3
Splashboom (talkcontribs)

As of 2023, Ubisoft has shut down many of its old game servers and even removed some DLCs from store pages. After searching for a while in the Steam Community page I found a user who made a DLC unlocker/injector that specifically unlocks Far Cry 3 Deluxe Edition. As it is kind of a abandonware now, can we link it here?

Patrxgt (talkcontribs)

Well, there is already something like this for Assassin's Creed II, so I don't think, that anybody would have a problem.

Aemony (talkcontribs)

The wiki policy on the subject:

"""

However, PCGamingWiki acknowledges that many fixes are only available for games that either require or bypass copy protection in themselves. Therefore if a file falls under the following categories it is allowed:

DLC unlocks

  • The DLC was never released for PC, but the data is either included in the game regardless (see Prototype 2) or is otherwise-compatible with the PC version of the game (see Burnout Paradise).
  • The DLC for PC has stopped being sold or has never been sold on PC due to licensing issues (see Final Fantasy XIII-2).

Extremely high mousebsensitivity for FC: Blood Dragon

2
2607:FB90:4424:24FC:4C1F:D814:7140:B483 (talkcontribs)

Blood Dragons sensitivity is unplayablly high for me and turning down the sensitivity in the menu and turning down my mouse DPI both have not fixed it. In fact, It feels the exact same no matter what I make my DPI or in game sensitivity. I turned down mouse accel to 0 as well. Is there a fix for this?

Command Line Parameters not working

2
Strypix (talkcontribs)

For some reasons, the command line parameters are not working for me with this game. I tried it through Ubisoft Connect and Desktop shortcuts, but they just wouldn't work for me. I tried -skipintro and -RenderProfile_MaxFPS 60 to be specific.

Doze d (talkcontribs)

Did you try on the Steam version or UPlay version only? In Steam these do work, but commands on shortcuts doesn't seem to work anymore in Win10. One option is to add the game Exe into Steam library and add the command in there, no matter if it's UPlay version only.

Negative Mouse Acceleration Fix

3
DoerOfThings (talkcontribs)

Not sure the best way to work this into the wiki page, thought I would leave it here for ppl though, google has it buried pretty deeply. This will most likely be useful for other Ubisoft games in the future using a similar engine to FC3.

http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/736269-mouse-s-negative-acceleration?p=9017252&viewfull=1#post9017252

Requires usage of Rick's Far Cry 3 unpacker/packer to edit "farcry3 install\data_win32\common.dat":

http://farcry3-mods.wikia.com/wiki/Tools_for_Unpack_and_Pack_game_content

inputactionmapcommon.xml (found in Common.dat actionmaps\) in the section:

<ActionMap name="common_look"> <MouseFilter input="mouse:move" curve="Weapons:AimCurves/Mouse_Curve" sensitivity="1.0" maxOutput="10" /> <Binding input="mouse:move" action="update" signal="look"/> </ActionMap>

changing maxOutput="10" to maxOutput="999999" (several occurences under mouse, a few under pad) removes the negative acceleration/dampening with quick mouse movements.

PrimusAuLoon (talkcontribs)

I was wondering the same since I too noticed the issue. It's present in both Far Cry 3 as well as Blood Dragon, I would assume it's something to do with the Dunia engine. Either way, fix added.

220.128.127.243 (talkcontribs)

Huge thx, tho ricks unpack tool is no longer available(it's been so many years), I found gibbed Dunia2's tool on nexus mods works too, if anyone is unsure how to use the tool to unpack and pack the xml file, there's an answer in the post section of the mod page.

Explaining the "PostFxQuality=false" tweak

1
Markie (talkcontribs)

This has been around on the internet for years. It hasn't been explained properly as far as I've seen, and is not entirely superior to editing the Post FX variables individually manually. With Post FX set to false, depth of field over distant mountains in the scenery is disabled (something which cannot be achieved with any in-game Post FX setting) and FXAA is enabled (while it is disabled with Post FX set to low), that is demonstrated in this Steam guide:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=273288124

However, Post FX set to false keeps some settings enabled or disabled in ways that are visually inferior to Post FX set to high or above. This is the full set of variables for the Post FX setting:

GameDepthOfField, DepthDownsample, CinematicDepthOfField, FXAALevel, CloudShadows, MotionBlur

With Post FX set to false, low, or medium, you get DepthDownsample="1" which seems to lower the resolution of certain shading effects and can make nearby objects blurry, especially around their edges. I believe false, low and medium also don't have cloud shadows enabled. These options do have motion blur disabled though, which might be a plus to some people. All things considered, using low, medium, or setting it to false is not ideal.

I have added intructions on how to customize the Post FX setting and disable certain effects while keeping others, that way users can do the best combination possible. For example, leaving DepthDownsample="0" and CloudShadows="1" by simply not editing or even adding these variables at all, but disabling DOF, FXAA and motion blur if desired by setting them to "0".

Win 7 compat mode crashes

5
Link Satonaka (talkcontribs)

I set compatibility mode for Win7 as instructed to fix micro stutter, but that results in a reliable crash upon starting the game.

I have win8.1 x64. I think that advice is not good- anyone have any explanations or reasons why I shouldn't remove that advice?

Garrett (talkcontribs)

I have removed it. There is no reference so it might simply be a placebo effect someone experienced.

Banzaigtv (talkcontribs)

I put it back. The issue IS RESOLVED when running the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode as well as setting the CPU affinity to disable one of the CPU cores. Game is installed on a non-Windows drive and the application DOES NOT CRASH at startup.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Listen, I would already find weird that something so.. insignificant as Windows 7 compatibility has effects...

But disabling cpu cores? Really?? It's a 2012 game god.
We may complain it does not use more than 2 or three cores, but it's definitively meant to be used on newer systems.

Besides, windows 8 even with 4 cores has nothing to do with stuttering

Link Satonaka (talkcontribs)

Agreed, I find it far more likely that for whatever reason, vsync isn't kicking on until the coincidental act of enabling compatibility mode. Or the micro-stutter was imagined in the first place.

Can someone decipher this "fix"?

7
ThatOneReaper (talkcontribs)

Hey everyone,

Recently, someone added a new fix relating to the autosaves. That being said, we cannot add it to the page due to the horribly broken English. It cannot be determined what the fix is trying to accomplish or if the problem even exists.

If someone can translate it out, please post a response here. Do NOT add it to the article until it can be verified.

The "fix":

Memory Issues

You about to witnessing a save game loss on your FC3 while launching, It might affect for sometimes.

Now that's what i call a bed english D:

Mirh (talkcontribs)

I found something that seems similar here, here and here..

Though, first of all: what's this Orbit folder?
It's even mentioned in the Multiplayer weapons will not level up fix.. but if savegames are already stored in the uplay folder why both should exist?

I read here that this may just have applied to older versions of "Far Cry"..
Other times I almost thought it was a folder used only by cracks.. even though further googling seemed to revel these "releases" uses a folder inside %APPDATA%

But I still don't have a clear answer

RaTcHeT302 (talkcontribs)

Orbit might be his username.

Marioysikax (talkcontribs)

Actually I have folder %PROGRAMDATA%\Orbit: http://i.imgur.com/dkLAbVA.png

Inside is folder 242550 (rayman legends steam ID maybe) and under that empty folder named RLD!. I have played both FC3 and Rayman Legends with this setup so no idea what's that folders purpose, but it may be temp or offline folder or as Mirh suggested earlier versions or unofficial releases used folder.

EDIT: OK so it definitely seems like it's folder used by unofficial release. I remembered that I did try to troubleshoot why game crashes when I open options menu (more info here) so I downloaded unofficial release but used it without any patching so it worked through uplay as a legit copy as there wasn't any downgrade methods (sry ;_;). It still created that folder, it's empty because game DRM wasn't removed and uplay was used.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

I was going to ask you about trying again that unofficial version..

But if you think to it better it's clear: there's no way steam would write games' saves inside %programdata%...
And on the other hand there's no way ubisoft would use steamID to discern between its games (even though I believe orbit is the "codename" of Uplay, just like Longhorn was the codename for Windows Vista)

So, for legality's sake I would propose to convert every fix that refers to programdata\Orbit to the proper <Ubisoft-Connect-folder>\savegames\<user-id>\
Of course even if this seems to make lot of sense in my mind if somebody disagrees we could even keep looking for other proofs

Garrett (talkcontribs)

If Uplay doesn't use %PROGRAMDATA%\Orbit then all uses should be replaced/removed.

Multiplayer Freezes at the end

72.227.135.134 (talkcontribs)

After every multiplayer game my computer freezes until i open up the task manager and end the process. I heard that the problem comes from having 2 or more graphics cards. I have a gtx 690 which is kinda like 2 gtx 680's, so is that the problem ,

Is there a fix for Windows XP users?

4
82.168.14.36 (talkcontribs)

Hello,

whenever I start FC3 on Windows XP it gives an error without starting, I've looked online but it seems a lot of WinXP users are having the same problem.

The error code isĀ : 0xc0000142

If you have any idea's on how to solve this error, that would be wonderfull.

Andytizer (talkcontribs)
82.168.14.36 (talkcontribs)

I'm currently downloading the Reloaded Version to try it out. I'll inform you today hopefully if the speed goes up. Currently installing BlackBox Repack to test that out with the fix.

82.168.14.36 (talkcontribs)

That fix does work.
