The 64-bit copy of the game, which can be downloaded and merged into the Steam game folder (follow instructions) does not run. Instead it creates a black screen and then crashes and exits.
Any compatibility mode checked? Did you try running it also as admin? Did you try to run with parameter -dx9?
In the steam version and the 64-bit mod for it, the forward movement randomly stops working while moving around. It'll just plain stop moving forward while the button is pressed. This happens specifically while using a program called "Windowed Borderless" which can force the Windowed mode to run without a Window frame (so that you can use the monitor's native resolution with Windowed mode without cutting off the bottom of the screen. To fix it, re-enable Fullscreen mode (not Windowed/borderless), and relaunch the game.
Can someone upload this mod somewhere, please? The link in the PCGW article does not exist anymore. Thank you.

Is this true? See this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Crysis-Games/Patching-Crysis-1-to-latest-update-through-Origin/m-p/1629303#M12648 "The patch version and file versions are mismatched. Patch 1.1 = 1.1.1.5767 Patch 1.2 = 1.1.1.6115 Patch 1.21 = 1.1.1.6159"
Could be. It's a 2007 game that still may have the old "installation format", where after download you basically have unpacked ISO of the original DVD. I think the same happened for me with.. BF2 or BF2142.
According to this Crysis have both audio providers. A check should be worth it EDIT: possibly more here and here
