Star Trek: Starfleet Command II - Empires at War is a singleplayer and multiplayer third-person and top-down view vehicle combat game in the Star Trek: Starfleet Command series.

As of Windows 10, the game crashes in the early game after a few commands are entered, which can be resolved with a single configuration file change.

Game freezes when trying to start a match on Windows 10 and newer

Edit the configuration file[1]
  1. Open <path-to-game>\sfc.ini.
  2. Under the [Mouse] entry, set the async value to 0 and hwblit to 1.
  3. Save the file and run the game.

Use different executable
  • Run the game from Starfleet2.exe instead of SFC2.exe (which launches sfc2intro.exe and Starfleet2.exe in that order).
