Change Language in the Free version

The Free version comes with multiple languages, but because it doesn't change Windows registry, only defaults to English.

Create [PsiOpsLanguage.reg] and add to registry (For Windows 64 bits)[4]

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GAMESTAR\PsiOps]

"LANGUAGE"="1"

Notes

Change "LANGUAGE" number to:
  1. for English
  2. for French
  3. for Italian
  4. for Spanish
  5. for German
Missing key registry defaults to English. If missing folders \GAMESTAR\PsiOps simply create them in registry as new keys, then inside create a new String value and name it LANGUAGE, proceed to change the value to the number corresponding your language.

Issues fixed

Can't begin to play, game not responding to some keyboard keys (e.g. space key)

Reset to the defaults in the keyboard settings[5]

Main character shows ghosting when moving, ladders launch and kill you, jumping doesn't work

Limit frame rate to 60 FPS[citation needed]

See Frame rate capping.

Crash at startup / "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)." error

Fix Data Execution Prevention setting[citation needed]

Ensure Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is set to the default (Windows programs and services only), or add PsiOps.exe to the exception list.

If that doesn't work, try adding it as an exception in Windows Security's DEP settings:

  1. Head over to App & browser control
  2. Click Exploit protection settings
  3. Go to the Program settings tab
  4. Click Add program to customize, and then Choose exact file path
  5. Navigate to <path-to-game> and select PsiOps.exe
  6. Scroll down to Data Execution Prevention (DEP), then check Override system settings and make sure it is turned Off underneath
  7. Apply and restart the game

  2. 2.0 2.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
