Nintendo Entertainment System Controller

The Nintendo Entertainment System Controller for Nintendo Switch Online are a pair of game controllers released by Nintendo in 2018.

Made specifically for the Nintendo Switch, the controllers were modeled after the NES Controller, but with some differences; Unlike the original NES controller, the new controllers has Bluetooth connectivity and is powered by the built-in rechargeable batteries. There are also rails with shoulder buttons on the top of each controllers, allowing them to attach to the sides of the Switch. Unlike the Joy-Cons, they don't have gyroscope, nor the joysticks.

In Japan, a similar Famicom Controller for Nintendo Switch Online was released, modeled after the original Famicom controllers. There's a built-in microphone and a volume slider on the 2P controller (which is equivalent to the Joy-Con R).

The controllers are the generic DirectInput controllers, so they are not supported by games that use the XInput API unless XInput wrappers like Steam Input are used. The controllers must be connected wirelessly through Bluetooth connection (Requires host device to support Bluetooth 3.0 and later), and recharging the controllers' batteries requires the Nintendo Switch itself or the optional Joy-Con Charging Dock. It should be noted that the controllers are currently only available to those who subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online service.
