Issues unresolved[edit]

Issues fixed[edit]

FSAA Patch crashes the game on startup[edit]

Use fixed version by elishacloud[9]

Install the BloodRayne 2 Patch instead.

High refresh rate causes issues with movement[edit]

High refresh rate may break the game - for example, you can get stuck mid-air after performing double-jump with the slow-motion mode enabled.
Lock the game at 60 fps
  1. Set your screen refresh rate to 60 Hz.
  2. Use either the BloodRayne 2 Patch or your GPU driver settings to enable Vsync in BloodRayne 2.

Black screen during cutscenes[edit]

Fix cutscenes with FSAA Patch[5]
  1. Install the BloodRayne 2 Patch.
  2. Load the Configuration Tool, and go to the 'Cut Scene' tab.
  3. Click on "Install The NEW cutscene.dll".
  4. Select "Internal" video player.
  5. Click on "Test Configuration". If you see a video from the game, you can skip the next 3 steps.
  6. Alternatively, select the external video player that you want to use to play the videos.
  7. Select the path to your video player. The tool will try to find it. If you see a blank text box, you must enter the path manually.
  8. Enter the parameters that your video player needs to start to play a video in fullscreen, and to exit after the playback.
    • For example if using mpv, use --fullscreen --keep-open=no.
    • Additionally, --no-input-cursor --no-input-default-bindings will lock all keyboard/mouse controls in mpv while the cutscene is playing.
    • You can re-enable skipping of cutscenes in mpv with the ESC key. Create text file [path to mpv.exe]\portable_config\input.conf with the line ESC quit in it.
  9. After you finish configuring playback method, click on "Write Configuration To cutscene.ini".
  10. If you cannot make it work, click on "Restore The Original cutscene.dll".
Fix cutscenes with dgVoodoo[10]
  1. Download and extract dgVoodoo.
  2. Open the MS folder and copy the contents to the installation folder.
  3. Open dgVoodooCpl.exe.
  4. Click on "Add" and choose the installation folder.
  5. Go to the DirectX tab.
  6. Disable "dgVoodoo Watermark" and click OK.

Run the game at screen refresh rate[edit]

Fullscreen mode defaults to 100 Hz, even if the screen refresh rate is set higher than that.
Set screen refresh rate[10]
  1. Install the BloodRayne 2 Patch.
  2. Open br2fsaaConfig.exe and set the refresh rate if needed.
Set screen refresh rate[10]
  1. Download and extract dgVoodoo.
  2. Open the MS folder and copy the contents to the installation folder.

Notes

  1. This version of StarForce DRM does not work on Windows Vista or later.[1][2][3][4] For supported versions of Windows the StarForce driver may need to be updated manually using SFUPDATE.
  2. 2.0 2.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  3. 3.0 3.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/3820/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (3820) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
