Widescreen resolution

There is a fix for 16:9 widescreen mode. It increases the player's FOV and fixes stretching of HUD and animated cutscenes. Comparison video.
Installation[citation needed]
  1. Download the fix from here.
  2. Copy scripts_you_are_empty_widescreen.pak from downloaded archive to <path-to-game>\gameres\scripts\you_are_empty.

Field of view (FOV)

Instructions[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\gameres\scripts\you_are_empty\.
  2. Open scripts_you_are_empty.pak with a file archiver like 7-Zip.
  3. Go into prototypes\actors\actor_player.
  4. Extract actor_player_design.lua and edit it with Notepad.
  5. Change the view_fov value from 90 to the FOV you want.
  6. Drag the file back into the archive and overwrite.
This may cause the 1C intro video to not play and instead be replaced with a dialog box saying "Press Key...", which will persist to the main menu. It does not obstruct anything and goes away during gameplay.
