Essential improvements

Licensed Music Restoration Patch

This mod restores the licensed music that was used in the original Japanese release of the game, that was removed for the English localization.
Download and install Licensed Music Resoration Patch
  1. Download Licensed Music Restoration Patch
  2. Go to "Steam\steamapps\common\Yakuza 0", and copy the "media" folder from the Licensed Music Restoration Patch folder and merge it with the game's "media" folder. Overwrite all the files it asks of you.

LodMod

Modifies the NPC face LOD system and increases draw distances, also includes its own DoF removal patch.
As of Patch 2 the NPC LOD is fixed, other fixes can still be used.
Does not work with Patch 3+.
No noticeable pop-in of objects.
Download and install LodMod[2]
  1. Download LodMod and extract their contents somewhere convenient.
  2. Read patches.txt and decide which patches you want to apply.
  3. Launch ppf-o-matic3.exe.
  4. Click Load CD-Image File (floppy drive to the right of ISO File).
  5. Set Files of type to All Files.
  6. Browse to <path-to-game>\media\ and select Yakuza0.exe.
  7. Click Load PPF-File (floppy drive to the right of Patch) and select a patch file.
  8. Click Apply PPF-File to apply the patch to the executable of the game.
  9. Repeat step 4 onward for each patch you want to add.

Notes

Can significantly impact performance depending on the patches you choose.
To uninstall, verify integrity of game files through the Steam client.

Audio "performance mode"

Greatly reduces the amount of CPU time spent on audio, freeing it up for the game itself to use (which can help reduce stutter and improve framerates)
Normally the audio system may use up to 12% of CPU time,[3] "performance mode" can reduce this to lower than 1%.
May stop the game from detecting audio devices being added/removed, requiring the game to restart to make use of them.
Change audio mode in audio.ini
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open audio.ini.
  3. Change AudioMode=0 to AudioMode=1
  4. Save the file.
May no longer be required as of Patch 2.

HD Font

This mod replaces the main font used in the game for an edited, higher-resolution (400%), font. It mainly changes dialogue and menu text.
Download and install HD Font mod
  1. Download HD Font
  2. This mod contains one file that overwrites an original game file. You can find it under "Steam\steamapps\common\Yakuza 0\media\data\fontpar" as "font.par". Replace the original "font.par" with this mod's "font.par".
