XBCD is a driver that allows owners of an Xbox controller to use it on a Windows computer. It also supports Xbox 360 controllers. XBCD doesn't currently support wireless controllers. Developers site.

Application

System Requirements

Windows XP or higher.

MSVC 2010 SP1 Runtime Installed.

NOTE - for x64 you WILL need both the x32 and x64 runtimes installed.

Installation

  1. Plug in your controller
  2. Install XBCD (On Vista/Win 7 run as admin)
    • On XP you can select "Run the Driver Installer Tool" and skip the rest of this guide. If problems occur, reinstall and use the manual method below.
  3. Open Device manager
  4. Expand the common controller class menu
  5. Open up the device properties
  6. Switch to the Drivers tab and click update drivers

Vista/Win 7

  1. Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  2. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  3. Select the XBCD Device in the list
    • If no XBCD Devices are in the compatible list, untick the box and navigate to XBCD Project
  4. Select "Install this driver software anyway"

2K/XP

  1. Select "No, not this time"
  2. Select "Install from a List or Specific Location"
  3. Select "Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install"
  4. Select the XBCD Device in the list
  5. Allow the driver to install

Configuration

To configure your controllers keys, run the XBCD Setup (Vista/Win 7 run as Admin)

On some controllers, such as arcade sticks, the setup might recognize the stick as a dpad. In this case you may want to change the control assignment from POV to Axis. Copy the directions from the left stick.
