Hi,

I've undone all of your changes to the Unreal Engine 4 page as a lot of them removed important or critical information. That engine page is meant to detail Unreal Engine 4 specific solutions and methods, and is not supposed to link over to general glossary pages or generic solutions.

The HDR section in particular fulfilled a critical purpose and should never be replaced on that page.

Br,

Aemony

I removed your added "essential fix" mod again for almost the same reasons: incorrect layout (description too long, no fixbox, no install instructions) + mod disables and changes a lot of things all at once (disables lot of visual options, changes some in-game things etc.) + overlap with existing fixes (not desired on PCGW, a mod that is just a package of pre-existing fixes is not desired generally) + mod allows no configuration of individual options it offers (so either all or nothing, which can harm user-experience if they don't want to change certain aspects that the mod touches) + the mod is a mod thus even if it would be allowed to be placed back it would belong under "Other information" and not as an essential fix as it is not required to run the game in way that would be regarded as acceptable.

I don't know what you mean with "incorrect layout blah blah" fix it yourself instead of removing the mod.

The mod fixes many things, and some of them are already listed on this wiki. It fixes even more though and that is a good thing. The mod really is essential because it removes effects which cannot otherwise be disabled and causes many people headaches.

> The game packages pre-existing mods

Yeah no sh!t sherlock. There is only one way to disable some effects, which means turning a 1 to a 0 inside some config files. Now riddle me this, which is more convinient: A) manually go into the game files and scroll through hundreds of files and lines to find the correct variable, or, B) drag and drop this mod into the gamefolder?

> There is no way to not include some changes from this mod

Yes there is. The changelog.txt file the mod comes with lists EXACTLY in which file to find every-single-change. So someone who really wants to change something is perfectly be able to. Did you even try the mod? Did you even spent ANY time looking at the mod or what is written on the mod page? I highly doubt it.

First of all; please stay friendly. I'm only trying to make sure, just as I expect that you are as well, that the quality of PCGW-pages stay optimal. Apart from maybe a bad layout (instead of mocking me and saying I should fix it, you could also ask for more feedback and learn from it?), there are in my opinion much larger problems causing why I removed it from the page: It contains already existing fixes on the page (which is again not desired on PCGW by many here on PCGW), while also disabling several effects (not all users maybe want to disable all of them, or maybe only one of them, or only want the main fixes). So, it maybe does too much all at once and thus more than only fixing some issues in the game. Mods that disable effects in games should in general only disable one effect per mod or have a configuration file allowing users to determine which effect to disable or not and there should be documentation about it on PCGW. If disabling effects only requires users to edit game's config files, you should instead mention how to do this on the PCGW page.

"Yes there is. The changelog.txt file the mod comes with lists EXACTLY in which file to find every-single-change. So someone who really wants to change something is perfectly be able to. Did you even try the mod? Did you even spent ANY time looking at the mod or what is written on the mod page? I highly doubt it." --> Then instead of only mentioning a mod, it might be much better if the individual instructions for disabling individual effects would be noted on the PCGW page instead of an all-in-one mod disabling them all and people having to look in a txt-file on how to do it themselves. I honestly missed the changelog.txt file and I expect many others will too.

"manually go into the game files and scroll through hundreds of files and lines to find the correct variable" I think PCGW should offer users choice and thus the instructions for disabling individual effects should be listed on the PCGW-page with maybe a link to this mod's download in case people want to disable them all at the same time. Because now if people don't want them all disabled, they still have to go manually into game files....

If you disagree with me on this, feel free to discuss it with others on the PCGW-discord at the #articles channel. If you do, please also link to this topic please.

So, please don't just add the mod back without considering the points above and if you are really convinced it should be added back, please discuss it first before doing so. (Sorry, sounds harsh, but had problems in the past with some people just putting fixes back on pages again and again even after warnings were issued not to do so haha. So sorry if I sound a bit harsh :) )
