Most of my life I either didn't have access to PC games or didn't have a powerful enough PC to play them. Now, when both of those are no longer an issue, I mostly play these older titles that I missed. The newest game I played is from 2013. One benefit of playing these older games after all these years on more powerful hardware is that I can enjoy them in higher resolutions, higher and more stable framerates, I can force anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering without worrying about framerate, and fans have made many widescreen and FOV fixes, patches, even graphics API wrappers, etc. All this makes these older games look and perform much better than originally intended, and I can play them in their full glory.
That is how I ended up on Widescreen Gaming Forum and PC Gaming Wiki. Instead of writing down all the links and fixes in a text file I started editing the pages myself and creating some new ones and turned it all into a hobby. With only a few minor exceptions, I only edit the pages of games I currently play. I do revisit the pages I edited from time to time if I find a demo or something, or if I think it requires some cleanup.
I use Windows 7 64-bit (SP1) and my PC has an i5-4690k processor and a R9 270X graphics card.
Pages I created on this wiki:
- BlackSite: Area 51
- Evolva
- Starship Troopers: Terran Ascendancy
- Starshot: Space Circus Fever
- Nocturne
I patched some games myself:
I made some 2D games, and was working on a game engine, but that slowed down in the last two years. You can find more info about those here:
