Umamusume: Pretty Derby[Note 3] is a multiplayer cinematic camera and side view racing, simulation and sports game developed by Cygames.

It was first released on February 24, 2021[1] for Android and iOS. PC port was released in Japan on March 10, 2021[2] in which the game progress can be tied up with mobile version by linking the mobile version account to DMM account and required to use DMM Game Player to access the game.

South Korea version also released their own Beta PC client version on June 15, 2023 after one year release of the game in South Korea.[3] Although the PC client was labelled Beta, the game client is up to date with the mobile client and the Beta status might be used to avoid certain issues.

On April 27, 2025, Cygames officially announced that the English version and Japanese version of the game will be launched on Steam on June 26, 2025 and wishlist is available beginning on April 28, 2025.[4][5] Unlike prior PC releases, the Steam versions were self-published by Cygames.

On September 10, 2025, DMM Game Player version has been updated to have functionality similar with Steam version with additional tweaks of having additional game data downloaded into game installed folder instead of %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Cygames.[6]

Free-to-play Game is free-to-play with microtransactions in the form of currency purchases.
Subscription Players can purchase a subscription called the Daily Carats Pack, which grants 500 paid Carats upon purchase, and also gives 50 free Carats every day the player logs in. Daily Carats Pack subscription can be continued if payment was made 3 days before the current subscription ended. Subscribed free Carats will be accumulated if player doesn't login continuously and will be distributed to player when login.

Error 501 when running the English Steam/Japanese DMM game

This is due to the English Steam version game data conflict with Japanese DMM version game data as both version use the same folder. Japanese Steam version is unaffected with this issue.
Rename or delete existing Umamusume game data
  • Go to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Cygames and delete/rename the Umamusume folder.
Update DMM Umamusume
  • DMM Umamusume has been updated to have additional game data downloaded into installed folder instead of %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Cygames.

    If you were to press any of the menus that handles transition: the game framerate will switch to 60fps for a brief moment until it switches back to 30fps. This behavior is the same on the Mobile version.

    Tested on a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller on both USB and Bluetooth. USB mode is outright broken, while Bluetooth works as expected.
