Download Decompress Config[citation needed]
  1. Download Decompress Config.
  2. Run the program, find config.lua in your Tropico 3 folder (if not already found) and press "Open with Notepad".
  3. Change config.IsFullscreen = 1 to config.IsFullscreen = 0.
  4. Close Decompress Config and launch the game.
  5. Set the resolution in-game.

Issues fixed

Windows Vista/Windows 7 multi-monitor crash

There are 3 ways to fix this crash.[1]
Disable Aero, 2nd monitor or enable windowed[citation needed]
  1. Disable one of the monitors prior to playing (Windows Key + P)
  2. Disable Aero:
    • Locate Tropico3.exe in the installation folder.
      • Steam - Right-click Tropico 3 in Library and choose Properties. Then choose "Browse local files".
      • Retail - C:\Program Files (x86)\Kalypso\Tropico3
        • Click on the "Compatibility" Tab, under Setting check the box "Disable desktop composition".
        • Click OK to confirm and close.
  3. Play in Windowed mode (works with Aero enabled).

The main menu does not appear after watching the intro

It is possible that your game configuration got corrupted by a system-crash.
Delete settings folder[2]

Please delete the %APPDATA%\Tropico 3 folder completely (you may copy the "Saves" folder and paste it back there after deleting). The game configuration should be reset and your game should start without problems.
