Essential improvements[edit]

Skip intro videos[edit]

Delete/rename video files[citation needed]

  2. Delete or rename these files:

Game data[edit]

Configuration file location[edit]

System Location

Coalesced.ini needs to be decoded before it can be edited; use TF Games Configuration Utility. Coalesced.int contains localization settings and must also be decoded.

Video settings[edit]

Graphics feature State Notes
Widescreen resolution
Use Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer.
Use Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer.
4K Ultra HD
The game runs fine on 1440p and 1620p, but on 2160p the textures get bugged and load only low-res textures. However, setting a custom resolution of 1800p (3200x1800) somehow allows the textures to load.
Field of view (FOV)
Use Flawless Widescreen. Affects scope zoom (larger FOV = less zoom).
Borderless fullscreen windowed
See Borderless fullscreen windowed.
Anisotropic filtering (AF)
Default is 4 samples (MaxAnisotropy=4); set MaxAnisotropy=16 in Coalesced.ini for 16 samples.
Anti-aliasing (AA)
Extra Quality graphics setting uses unknown form of post process AA. Sampling-based AA can be forced through Nvidia Inspector with 0x00000245 AA compatibility flag;[1] alternatively you can turn on FXAA and/or set MaxMultisamples=6 in Coalesced.ini
Vertical sync (Vsync)
60 FPS
120+ FPS
Capped and frame data tied at 60 FPS. Use the -silent FPS=118 launch option.[2] Warning: Physics can glitch out, speed up cutscenes and can give a unfair side effect in multiplayer against opponent players similar to speedhacking and chances put into a third team.[3][4][5]

Borderless fullscreen windowed[edit]

Use GeDoSaTo[citation needed]
  1. Install GeDoSaTo.
  2. Edit the TFOC profile.
  3. Add this setting: forceBorderlessFullscreen 1
  4. Set the game to run in fullscreen mode.

Audio settings[edit]

Audio feature State Notes
Separate volume controls
Effects, Voice, Music. Change in-game Audio Settings.
Surround sound
Enable in-game Display Settings. Combat chatter not subtitled.
Closed captions
Mute on focus lost
Game will automatically pause in Campaign and Solo Escalation. Multiplayer and Escalation will open the pause menu but game will still be running and sound will still be heard.

Type Native Players Notes
LAN play
Online play
12 Versus, Co-op
12 players per lobby (6 vs 6). Must be signed into Steam. Co-op: Escalation mode (4 players).

VR support[edit]

Issues fixed[edit]

Crash at Hardshell boss fight[edit]

The game crashes when Hardshell launches rockets for the 2nd or 3rd times. This might because of your Nvidia Settings.

Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel, Manage 3D settings, Program Settings, Add (<path-to-game>\Binaries\TFOC.exe), then select High-performance NVIDIA processor.

  1. 1.0 1.1 When running this game without elevated privileges (Run as administrator option), write operations against a location below %PROGRAMFILES%, %PROGRAMDATA%, or %WINDIR% might be redirected to %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore on Windows Vista and later (more details).
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/213120/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (213120) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
