I tried official beta patch 1.1.4 and widescreen works, but now image is squashed (usually its stretched if widescreen is not working lol), or maybe not whole image but characters.. Is normal behavior for this particular patch?

Can't post imgur examples, because of robot captcha =(
If what you are describing is what I think it is, which is the characters are looking skinny, then yes it is normal. You are seeing what the character actually looks like.
Unlike before, running URU at widescreen looks stretched because the aspect ratio is not changed, 4:3 is stretched to 16:9. This patch fixes that so it no longer gets stretched on 16:9 monitors and run natively at 16:9.
The game originally only supported resolutions with 4:3 ratios, so if you are still unsure, then have the game run at one of the resolutions before the patch while making sure your monitor or GPU is not automatically stretching it. (AMD and NVIDIA Should have an option in their control panel) Have it set to maintain aspect ratio.
But characters don't look skinny in 4:3 resolutions though (and my monitor is not stretching image of course ;) ) Maybe its a side effect of higher FOV, whatever, i don't like how characters become tiny, so i will play in 4:3 AR instead.. PS - how can i upload examples? links to imgur and abload.de are not working with robot captcha for some reason..
I don't know how to upload images either as I have never done that. However, I just took some screenshots in both 4:3 and 16:9 and compared them myself. Now I know exactly what you are describing.
Looks like a side effect to the widescreen support was to increase the fov and as a result, makes it look squashed. Everything does look more narrow in 16:9 than in 4:3. The game might handle FOV differently though because I don't see the squashed effect in other games I play, but I wasn't looking for it either.
