So.. putting aside generic performance considerations that I couldn't get much insights into since I'm probably constrained by VRAM-swapping (it seems slightly lighter on the cpu, but heavier on the gpu and bandwidth), there's some madness going on when the program starts.

For the first 5-10 minutes everything, including the nvidia logo and menus, is stuttery as hell - even going down into "seconds per frame" territory once in a while. I initially thought it could be shader compiling or something, but both cpu and gpu are pretty "comfy" in this situation.

D3D11 is silk as smooth immediately instead (and I would have liked to do more comparisons, but despite seemingly not having touched anything, this afternoon dx12 started out of the blue to have dxgkrnl/nvlddmkm BSOD every time the world loads)
