Transfer Microsoft Store saves to other platforms

Microsoft Store saves can be transferred over to other PC platforms by renaming the files accordingly. The opposite is currently
Rename save game files[2]
  1. Browse to the save folder of the Microsoft Store version
    • %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\3951BlooberTeamS.A.TheMedium_myqva651hxz16\SystemAppData\wgs
  2. Perform a search for * in the folder so that all files in all subfolders are visible in one view.
  3. Select all files 2 KB or larger and copy these.
    • All files including container in their name can be ignored.
  4. Paste the files in the target save folder
  5. Now go through the files one by one and do the following:
    1. Open the file in Notepad.
    2. On the 12th (or slightly below) line of the file, locate the /Script/ part and rename the file based on the specified type:
      • /Script/Medium.MediumSaveObject files should be renamed to SaveGameData_#.sav where # is a digit starting from 0.
      • /Script/Medium.MediumPlayerProfile should be renamed to PlayerProfile.sav
      • /Script/InputRebinding.InputRebindingSaveData should be renamed to InputRebinding.sav
      • /Script/Achievements.AchievementsSaveObject should be renamed to Achievements.sav
  6. Launch the game on the other platform and the transferred saves should not be recognized.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/1293160/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (1293160) may differ in some cases.
