Playing offline with online profile after official servers were shut down

The game launcher doesn't allow you to start the game in offline mode until you either disable your network connection, you have to do it each time you launch the game, or block the launcher using your firewall, which is quite difficult to achieve using default Windows firewall. Here is a workaround:

Instructions
  1. Go to c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
  2. Open host file using Notepad with administrative privileges
  3. Add these strings to the bottom of it and save changes:
    # Test Drive Unlimited 2 servers
    127.0.0.1 clientstats.testdriveunlimited2.com
    127.0.0.1 patchserver.testdriveunlimited2.com
    127.0.0.1 www.testdriveunlimited2.com
  4. Launch the game, get Error #01, press Cancel, Play, then Yes to confirm offline play.

Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/9930/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (9930) may differ in some cases.
