GamersGate link routing through click traffic monetizer

I understand the wiki appending partner/referral codes for stores that support them, but the GamersGate section of the template specifically is routing through ad network <that is blocked by this site's spam filter so I can't even name it here> and is the only link doing so. This causes the link to break against some ad blockers and browsers. Came to this realization when I clicked through the newly added GamersGate link on Harbinger and my browser threw a fit due to "suspicious rerouting". Can we get the reroute removed and just stick with the referral code? Azure fang (talk) 21:25, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

On further research, it's the most recent merger that adjusted/added these links. I understand trying to get some revenue from these links but GamersGate and GMG already have affiliate links. The Ubisoft link I can understand to an extent, but these redirects will still be blocked by a number of setups and it feels weird that the site is using a redirect that it otherwise blocks users from mentioning. This has already been discussed multiple times and the answer is no. For whatever purpose, PCGW necessitates the current links to generate affiliate related revenue from the links from those storefronts.

I've restored the link on the Harbinger article as well.

You'll have to elaborate what you mean by this as the current affiliate link should be whitelisted -- if it weren't nobody would be able to edit an article that made use of one of those links.

I presume Azure fang is talking about either the dotomi, emjcd, or dpbolvw parts of the affiliate redirections. However, I don't think either of those three are blocked in mainstream adblockers' default settings nowadays (The AdGuard Mobile Ads filterlist blocks dotomi, but on uBlock Origin that block can be bypassed through a button on the blockscreen; DNS-based adblockers are less fortunate and often can't bypass it).

Dandelion has it, though yes, all of them are blocked on some mainstream blockers, uBlock Origin being the culprit here and with some configurations there is no option for bypass (such as if it has been permanently blocked from another source), and some privacy-centric browsers. As to them being spamfiltered, I cannot currently type the link that would start with a dp into this reply without the wiki blocking my post.

Like I said, affiliate links are not at issue. It's the pass-through links. Azure fang (talk) 09:28, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

Please add the following code to the template:

|gamejolt
|game jolt = [https://gamejolt.com/games/{{{link}}} Game Jolt]{{#vardefine:store|Game Jolt}}{{#vardefine:store property value|Game Jolt}}
