Restore Original Soundtrack Without SilentPatch

1
Dukerdude (talkcontribs)

Some time ago last year, the creator of the game revealed on Twitter a button combination that can be used in-game on the main menu after loading a save to restore the original soundtrack on any version of the game. Source: https://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/1542368018604314624

The button combination he posted is for the Switch release, however I tested on PC and the equivalent inputs are:

With RT held, dpad-up dpad-down dpad-left dpad-right Y A X B (using an Xbox-prompt controller)

or

With CTRL held, W S A D middle-click space right-click left-click (using KBM)

Correctly completing the input plays a fanfare and can be reversed by simply repeating the process, and it seems as though the code has to be inputted each session as it doesn't appear to be saved.

Should this information be included on the Wiki page? As an in-game cheat it's not a fix, but it's a pretty relevant topic with fans of the game and it does technically make the SilentPatch method redundant (although the SilentPatch is better since it actually saves your music choice across sessions). Trying to use the SilentPatch method and the cheat at the same time doesn't seem to cause any harm: with the SilentPatch setting set to 0 the cheat functions as normal whereas when it's set to 1 it just forces the original music regardless of the cheat.

Due to a bad frame limiter, the game is actually locked to 59FPS and not 60, think it's worth pointing out. This is also the case in Metal Gear Rising and Transformers: Devastation, both from Platinum Games.

The modder Silent is working on fixing the framelock. Complete framerate unlock isn't possible as it seems the game isn't currently designed to handle 60fps+ but it might be possible to completely remove the frame limiter and then use either V-sync or an external framelimitter like RTSS in order to lock it at a normal 60fps.

Saw the updates, Transformers: Devastation's page need to to be updated as well. Bayonetta also a similar issue where fps starts at 60 and then starts to get lower after extended period of play (after about 30 minutes it drops to `59.7fps which causes annoying microstutter and cutscenes rise up to `30.1fps. haven't tested any further as I was to annoyed by this to continue playing, but can only assume it gets worse the more you are playing, just like this case without Silent's fix

Bayonetta actually seems to run closer to 59.94hz i my experience and if your monitor is set to a true 59.94hz then it will stutter far far less than if set to 60hz. If set to 60 hz the game will drop frames almost 100% immediately on start of play. If set to 59.94hz it will only start dropping frames after 30-60 minutes of play instead. Setting your monitor to 59.7hz and limiting the frame rate to that will result in even worse stuttering than 60hz does, even if your monitor can display it properly without frameskipping. u.cubeupload(dot)com/MrBonk/droppedframes60hz.jpg This is set to 60hz and on the flip FPS graph you can see it dropping a frame every second or so

Borderless resolution?

When I tried to play on my 1440p monitor in the borderless windowed setting, it appeared that the game was rendering everything at 1080p even though I had set it to the proper resolution, and fullscreen looked improved. I'd need more people to verify if that's what's happening though.
