Talk:List of PC games with features removed compared to their console versions

I think this article would be better off called "List of PC games with features *missing* compared to their console versions", as "removed" implies the features were ever present or planned in the first place, but that's not always necessarily the case.

Honestly I second this. Gunvolt 2 for example actually retains its microphone related features from the original 3DS release in the PC port despite not having rumble support from the Switch port and lacking amiibo functionality. Then there's Metal Wolf Chaos XD which in the recent updates broke the visual effects of the Moonlight Sword bazooka (which ironically was working in the pre-v1.03) and is still missing some visual effects like the distortion effects and motion blur effects in certain cutscenes.

The thing is that using the word "missing" instead of "removed" would encourage people to add things from versions of games released AFTER the original, which is something outside the scope of the list as the intro suggests. Like, i remember when this list had games like Skyrim listed because the Switch version, released years after the original, has a couple of exclusive Zelda-themed items.

"Missing" is always a problematic moving goal post that is ultimately unachievable, which is why PCGW generally has not considered or taking that sort of thing into account.

Updating lists like this or game articles to state that X original PC version doesn't include Y or Z features in re-releases serves little purpose. It is also made more problematic when dealing with games that have multiple releases on PC.

The original version of Final Fantasy 7 has like three different releases on PC -- is it really worth stating on all three of them their missing features compared to consoles versions released at a much later point when the earlier PC versions weren't even regarded as "current"?

Focusing on "removed" allows us to create a timeless article properly categorize PC versions missing features compared to their direct console equivalent without having to go back and update older entires once covered.

I was only really talking about the name of the page and not its goal, since by taking a quick look at it, it's clear it's a lot more about generally missing features and not exactly "removed" ones technically. But I see you're making a bit of a compromise with the naming so that the list is more manageable and people don't misuse it, fair enough. You could probably still be more accurate with the name while avoiding issues though.

Why is this Filoppi user keeps editing what they're not supposed to edit? Kinda looks like that they have autism or something. No offense.

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and decide to believe they have missed all my edit notes like the ones where i warn them to respect the alphabetical order. I just wrote them a message on their Discussion page.
