Issues unresolved

Minor spoiler ahead.

Missable Youkol relic

The monastery library's secret compartment and related window permanently close if one leaves the area without having taken the Youkol relic. The game prevents the player from re-lighting the necessary candles, and the item is required in order to progress. Thus, the only solution is to load an earlier save file.

Issues fixed

Irregular game speed and desynchronized sound

Certain animations, such as mouth movement, are tied to frame rate. Consequently, at high frame rates, animations appear erratic and sound may become desynchronized.
Limit frame rate to 60 fps

Vsync (Always on) not working on Windows10

  1. Download the d3d8to9.
  2. Copy D3D8.DLL from the folder to the game install directory.

Black screen in the general store

The game has a tendency to switch to a black screen after the cutscene in which the general store owner pulls down the ladder leading to the attic, at which point the player is unable to progress.
Restart the game[4]
  1. Restart the game.
  2. Load a save made prior to the cutscene.
  3. Trigger the cutscene again.
Skip the cutscene[5]
  • During the ladder-pull-down cutscene, press Esc multiple times in order to skip to the next scene.

Notes

  1. SafeDisc retail DRM does not work on Windows 10[1] or Windows 11 and is disabled by default on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 when the KB3086255 update is installed.[2]
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/46510/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (46510) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
